Baby's First Cosplay by GwydionAE Baby's First Cosplay by GwydionAE
For everyone that's seen my sis and I at cons, you may recognize my table partner, although she is admittedly a bit bigger than usual, haha. Her due date is less than a month away - I'm going to be an aunt! <3

I'd been hoping she'd be having a boy for several reasons, but one is because there are just so many cute boy costumes (expect a Young Link sometime in the future!!). I decided to make Robin first as the pieces can be used on a daily basis - the green onesie is separate, the cape can double as a bib/spit up towel, and the mittens (not shown) can be used to keep the baby from scratching his face at night.

It's just so cute, though, isn't it?? lol I was so excited that I'd be able to make baby costumes for the first time! The entire thing is hand sewn. I used a (slightly modified) pattern for the onesie and a (slightly modified) pattern I found online for the cape. It's based on the Dick Grayson version of the Robin costume - maybe someday he'll don the Batman costume too, haha.

I plan to move this picture to scraps once I have a photo of the baby actually wearing it - that mannequin was made to display necklaces and therefore has boobs and that makes it look a little weird. XD

Did you use a pattern for this? Would you share your pattern? I have a friend who's expecting who would absolutely love to receive something like this.

I used Simplicity's 2291 for the base green onesie (had to adjust the sleeves, but otherwise it's the same). I used this ([link]) as a base pattern for the cape - lengthened and straightened it, adding the piece around the neck for the collar myself. But really that's the best I can do, I'm afraid - the red vest and belt were made based off of the patterns I had, but there was quite a bit of freehanding in there. ^_^;; It really was fairly easy, though. I could try and give you more details if you think it would help!

Haha, I know, right? 9 months goes by quick - when you're not the one carrying the baby, anyway!

And thanks!
